That court is not the only way we pay homage to the Mets here in CT. We have a playroom decorated in Mets memorabilia and photos. Yes, it's painted blue and orange, and the doorknobs have the Mets logo on them. We have the Mets Fathead logo on the wall, and a Mets end table.
My son's bedroom also honors the Mets. He has a giant David Wright Fathead on the wall, and Mets Pottery Barn Teen bedding. We have a Mets desk lamp on his desk, and a Mets switch plate on his light switch. And, I have not begun to discuss the clothing that we have with the Mets logo on it....right down to socks and underwear. He even has Mets flip flops!
Let me also note that we watch ALL of the games, and we plan a summer trip to see the Mets at a rival's ballpark. This year, we went to two games in Washington DC. It was a great trip and the Mets won both games. We have also visited Shea Stadium a few times this year, and I have paid big twice so that we could sit in the very first row behind first base. We even got a Jose Reyes foul ball! It was just like a movie...let me set the stage. Jose Reyes is up at bat and he fouls a ball right near the first base coach, Ken Oberkfell. Ken picks it up, turns around, my son stands up and puts out his hand, and Ken throws the ball right to him. I think I can call him Ken since we were sitting 4 feet from first base, and I dropped nearly $1000 for four tickets...twice!
Anyhow, I write all of this because I need to explain that it is not easy being the mother of a Mets fan. The Mets are prone to historic, heart breaking collapses. Each time the Mets blow a game, I have to find a way to cheer up my son. He takes the losses worse than the players! So I am begging the Mets to find a way to win this year. Last year's historic collapse nearly sent my son over the edge, and I just don't think he (I) can take a repeat of that this year!
