For the Love of Cake!

Yes, I love cake...really I do. Because I love cake, my diet is somewhat challenged. I will gladly eat cake instead of vegetables. I will gladly eat cake instead of fruit. I will gladly eat cake when I should be working out. And, I don't stop at cake. I love cookies, brownies, pie, ice cream and candy too. Yes, I realize this is a bit of a problem. I just don't know quite what to do about it. My love of cake constantly railroads my diet. I can diet perfectly all day, but at night, I find the cake. Or, maybe the cake finds me. If the cake hunts me down and insists that I eat it, then it's not my fault. Right? It's the cake's fault! I think I have just had a defining moment. For many years I have been blaming myself for spoiling my diet by eating cake, when all along it was the damn cake's fault. Next time the cake comes to find me, I am going to eat it LOL! That'll show it who's boss. Yes, I am hopeless. By the way, the carrot cake has come to find me -- gotta run!

How I Yearn to make a Scrapbook!

I want to be friends with scrapbook makers. Or are you scrapbookers? Whatever they call you, I want to be one! I want to make a scrapbook. I dream of making a scrapbook. I am willing to spend a small fortune on scrapbook supplies. I have pictures to show, and stories to tell. I want to go to scrapbook meetings (or are they really parties?), and make some damn scrapbook pages. I want to. I really do. But, I can't. Not today. Not this month, and not this year. Why? Because I have no free time. None. For now, I can only dream of making a scrapbook. But, hey, at least I have a dream!

Can't Sleep!

It's 4:30 a.m EST, and, yes, I am wide awake. As a matter of fact, I've been up for an hour and a half. This is a typical night for me. I go to bed at midnight, and then I wake up at 3:00 a.m. Sometimes, I can fall back to sleep, and then there are days like today, where I just can't, so I get up. Once I get up, I am not quite sure what to do with myself. My son is sleeping, so I can't start cleaning or walking on my treadmill as the noise will wake him up. There is not much on tv, unless you like infomercials. It's cold and dark outside, so I can't go for a walk. In general, I am just miserable. My two cats usually hear me, and are ready to play. Well, more likely, they want me to feed them, but I just play with them instead.

Tonight though, I have a mission. I got a GPS system for Christmas, which I've never had the time to figure out how to use. So, I am about to read the manual. I have to visit a friend tomorrow (well, today) who live about 1.5 hours away from where I live, and I thought I'd give the old GPS a try -- since I don't quite know how to get to her house. The GPS intrigues me, although I am not sure I trust it. One wrong turn, and I am on the road to nowhere...right? I'll report back on whether or not I actually made it to my destination.

Blogging and reading blogs is a perfeclty good activity for 4:00 a.m. If you have a favorite blog, please share as I seem to have lots of time to read in the middle of the night.

Oh, and you can play blackjack at 4:00 a.m. too. Who knew there were others that couldn't sleep, and wanted to join in a game of 21 in the middle of the night! Blackjack is a bit of an addiction for me. Everyone needs a good vice! I joined a blackjack club, and it is fun with no risk. If you like blackjack, give this site a try!
